Lorena Ochoa

Lorena Ochoa Reyes is a very famous professional golfer. She was born in Guadalajara (Mexico) on November 15th, 1981. She is the number on ranked female golfer in the world since 2007. She is also known as the best Mexican golfer of all time.

Ochoa started playing golf when she was 5 years old, she won her first state event at 6 years old, and her first national event at seven years old. When she was still in Mexico, she won 22 state events in Guadalajara and 44 national event in Mexico. Thanks to her talent, she obtained a golf scholarship in the United States, and got the opportunity to enroll at the University of Arizona.

Ochoa is not only passionate with Golf, she also loves reading and water skiing. But her greatest passion in life is her family, and spending time with them.

During Golf events, Lorena Ochoa represents Banamex, CitiGroup, Audi, El Rio Country Club, Rolex, Lacoste, Selther and Aeromexico.

She also became the second player in LPGA history to surpass the 2 million dollars mark in season earning, with $2,592,872. Karrie Webb became the third later in the season. Then at the LPGA Takefuji Classic, she crossed the 4 million dollars mark in career earnings, the 5 million dollars mark after finishing fifth at the Evian Masters (that was where she recorded the first double-eagle of her career of the 26th in the history of the Tour), and the 6 million dollars mark with her runner-up finish at the ADT Championship. With such a record of achievements, Ochoa became the fastest player in LPGA history to reach these milestones.

On April 20th, 2010, Lorena Ochoa announced that she intended to retire from professional golf, at a press conference held in Mexico City. Her last tournament was the “Tres Marias Championship” from April 29th through May 2nd, 2010. Her dreams as a little girl were to become the number 1 ranked player in the world and to play for about 10 years. Today, she can proudly say that she reached her dreams.
